What better way is there to take in the fabulous views of the Lake Disrrict than to go Horse Riding?
Whether it be Pony Treking, Accompanied Private Rides, Riding Breaks or you just need to get a start by having a few lessons, this is the perfect place to start.
We have a couple of nearby equine centres, who have horses and ponies to suit all ages and abilities.
Sockbridge Pony Treking Centre
With over 50 years experience, this family Treking Centre is open seven days a week, and all through the seasons. They have a range of ponies such as the smaller Welsh Mountain Ponies, right through to the ranks to the Thoroughbreds, but all of them are extremely reliable.
They have 1 hour and 2 hour treks, also half hour treks for younger children.

Rookin House Activity Centre
Established for over 20 years, Rookin House has over 35 well mannered and willing horses to suit all types of riders, fom complete beginers to the more experienced.
Their horses and ponies range from the steady 13.2hh Native Breeds to the more forward going 16.0hh warm bloods.
The rides cover farmland, forrestry, bridle ways and country lanes. Routes are subject to ground conditions, but all offer glorious views of the surrounding fells.
Accompanied "Private Rides" are available for individuals as well as groups - subject to an aditional charge, ideal for riders who want a faster pace, or the more nervous rider who preders individualo attention.
Group or private riding lessons are available in Show Jumping and Flat Work - all ages and abilities (from 6 yrs) welcome.

With the "Utmost Safety" of our Clients in mind, we take every precaution possible.
This includes all "Updated Guidelines" from the Government
so when we are allowed to re-open for Business, we can do - Safely!
During the 1st Lockdown in March 2020, we invested in a
We use a special solution that is certified to kill ALL Viral and Bacterial Infections, should there be any present.
We also meticulously clean and sanitise all areas which could have been touched either by ourselves or by our Guests, and finishing with a "Steam Cleaner"
so that we can be sure that everything is safe.
We wear Face Masks and Gloves, there are Hand Sanitisers in all 3 Bedrooms as well the Breakfast Room of the Main House.
The Lodges also have Hand Sanitisers in the Kitchen.

Blencathra Lodge now sleeps up to 2 People, and
Pennine Lodge can sleep up to 6 People.
