Greystoke open-air swimming pool opens from May to September, and offers customers of all ages a safe, relaxing and enjoyable swimming facility in beautiful surroundings on the fringe of the Lake
District National Park.
The Greystoke and District Sports Association is not a profit organisation, but is managed by a committee made up entirely of local volunteers. It offers not only the open-air swimming pool,
but also a football playing field, two children's play areas, and an associated car park.
With the exception of the swimming pool, the other facilities are used the entire year round by the local school, village football teams, youth groups, members of the local community as well as
numerous visitors to the area.

How we came to Building the Pool
The first meeting of the ‘Playing Field Committee’ met in Greystoke village hall on 12th of May, 1963. The newly acquired field, which required levelling and turfing before it could be used, slowly
started to develop itself as a recreation ground for the local community. In 1973, after many years of endless fundraising and hard work, Greystoke's open-air swimming pool finally opened on the
site. 35 years and a lot of hard work later, the recreation facilities have slowly evolved over time to what they are today.
The facility, particularly the swimming pool, was now showing signs of old age. And, although the current committee knew what work needs doing, there was little money available for the level of
investment required.
The committee and local community were determined to ensure that the facilities did not sit silently eroding over time as a forgotten asset. They were clear in their intentions that the facilities
will not be forgotten, time will be given and finances will be found to ensure that Greystoke and District Swimming Pool and sports facility remain in the heart of the community for generations still
to come.
